Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree
The Community College of Baltimore County Associate Degree Program in
Massage Therapy adheres to the mission of the college by providing a quality
education to students and recognizing individual learning needs. The Massage
Therapy curriculum is designed to be completed within two years for full-time
students or longer for part-time students.
Enrollment is limited and selective based on CCBC School of Health Professions
(SHP) admissions procedures. The student must submit a SHP selective
admission application along with three character references and a short biography
stating the reasons for pursuing a Massage Therapy career.

The one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, is required for new
students who do not have previous college level experience.
Graduates receive an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Massage Therapy.
Graduates of the program are prepared as skilled and responsible therapeutic
massage providers and are eligible to take the National Certification Exam in
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, (NCETMB.) Graduates meet the
qualifications for and may apply for Maryland licensure through the Board of
Chiropractic and Massage Therapy Examiners.
For qualifications for other states students must check with the appropriate
licensing or certifying agency for that particular state.
The Associate Degree Program in
Massage Therapy provides students
with the tools they need to be
successful. Our graduates take the
National Certification Exam in
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
as part of their training and then are
eligible to take the state Jurisprudence
exam upon graduation. Successful
completion of these exams makes
one eligible to become a Licensed
Massage Therapist in Maryland.
Licensed Massage Therapists may
work in health care settings such as
hospitals, hospice, long-term care
facilities, doctors offices, and
chiropractor's offices as well as other
related businesses.
Our students participate in extensive
practice lab as well as a student clinic
and clinical rotation at Franklin Square
Hospital.
